Roberson to host 2011 Regional Art Exhibition

Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony Friday Night

Roberson Museum and Science Center will present a tremendous showcase of regional artists with the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony for its 2011 Regional Art Exhibition Friday, July 8 from 6-9pm.  The announcement of awards will take place at 8pm.

Over 60 regional artists are featured within the exhibition in categories including sculpture, photography, painting, neon art and more.

General admission for Friday night’s opening is $5.

Artists within 150 miles of Binghamton are represented in the Regional Art Exhibition.  Juror James Mullen – Professor of Art and Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts, Emeritus at SUNY Oneonta – has selected three equal Awards of Merit, a Juror’s Citation and two honorable mentions from the exhibition.  Each selected artist will receive cash awards for their entries. In his juror statement Mullen writes, “Roberson Museum and Science Center is to be commended for continuing to provide this vital venue for area artists to professionally exhibit recent work.”

Works in the Regional Art Exhibition will be on display at Roberson through October 16 and are available for purchase.
