Celebrated artist Linda Ciallelo brings her beautiful multi-media collection of work to Roberson.
A current resident of Binghamton, NY, Linda Ciallelo lived in Cazenovia for 22 years, during which time she worked under the name Linda Vredenburgh.
She produces realistic, representational oil paintings, pastel drawings, and pencil drawings. Her current subject matter is primarily figurative and still life.
“I have done literally hundreds of pencil drawings of Cazenovia children on commission during the 1970s and ‘80s,” Linda said.
She has been selling her artwork and winning awards in the Central New York region and around the country since she was 14 years old.
“I am self taught,” noted Linda. “I was, however, able to attend one year of college at Cazenovia College from 1988 to 1989. I moved to Binghamton in 1989 and was not able to exhibit my art until 2018. Other obligations kept me busy.”
She has since been accepted into multiple juried shows in New York City, including the 106th and 108th Allied Artists of America exhibition at the Salmagundi Club on Fifth Avenue. She was featured in the Salmagundi Club’s juried figurative show in 2020.
In 2021, Linda won third place in the Roberson Museum and Science Center Regional Art Show. In 2022, one of her works was shown in the Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibition at the Cooperstown Art Association Galleries. In 2023, two of her pieces were shown in the 77th Arnot Art Museum Regional Exhibition.
Artist Statement:
“My work is a subtle comment on what I observe in the world around me. My observations include how I feel about the subject, the light, the color and texture of the world. Also the complex feelings in the faces of my models. I’m saying to the observer “look at this,” as one would share something with a friend. It’s fun and therapeutic to be able to produce something that looks three dimensional with two dimensional mediums. It has been and continues to be a lifelong pursuit. Thank you for looking.”
