Accomplished painter, sculptor, weaver and quilter from Binghamton’s sister city of Borovichi,
Russia, Svetlana Gorbacheva, will be our honored artist-in-residence from October 26 to November 7.

Gorbacheva showcased her considerable talent during a previous visit to Roberson 15 years
ago. Her stay as an artist-in-residence is still remembered by Roberson’s staff as inspiring and
highly successful.

During her time at Roberson, Gorbacheva will offer classes to the general public in painting, clay sculpture and other media for both children and adults. Her programs will tie-in with Roberson’s newest exhibit NatureTrek by using animal specimens as models and by focusing on subject matter
pertinent to the habitats highlighted in the exhibit. Sign up for one of Svetlana’s art classes now as they are filling up quickly!

Gorbacheva will also schedule time to work on her own artistic projects, which she will share
with museum visitors. She will also visit local artists and studios whose work parallels her own.
