First Friday: Propaganda As A Weapon

Delve into a discussion on the history of WWI propaganda and how its influence has impacted Americans for the past 100 years.

Jack Gilroy, Binghamton-area chapter leader of Veterans for Peace, will lead a discussion on historical WWI propaganda, talking about its use from an American perspective with examples from British, Australian, and German-Austrian sides.

Guests are invited to listen and ask questions throughout the talk.

*First Friday admission is half-price from 5 – 9pm, which includes a free planetarium show. 


About the speaker

Jack Gilroy has written two award winning novels of young men who refused to follow government orders to train to kill. Absolute Flanigan and The Wisdom Box published by Binghamton University. Over the past several years, Gilroy has written a series of plays that examine the power of conscience over the power of government. Most recently, The Predator, a play based on a young woman whose mother, a drone pilot, believes her college age daughter should make the military her career. 

Jack Gilroy is a retired high school teacher, full time activist, veteran of two military services, and chapter leader of Veterans for Peace.
