Roberson Hosts Hidy Ochiai Traditional Martial Arts Weekend

Roberson Museum and Science Center will host the legendary Master Hidy Ochiai Friday, September 24 as part of Hidy Ochiai Traditional Martial Arts Weekend.

Master Ochiai’s appearance highlights a weekend of martial arts demonstrations and events inside Champions! at Roberson. 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 5:30-7pm:

“Traditional Martial Arts and Basic Self-Defense”

For all ages!

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2-3pm:

Washin-ryu Karate Demonstration

Master Ochiai’s students will give a hands-on demonstration of this traditional martial art discipline and be available to answer questions.

Throughout the weekend a DVD slideshow will play on the large projection screen inside Champions!  The slideshow features a variety of images of Master Hidy Ochiai and the history of traditional martial arts.

Hidy Ochiai Weekend events are FREE with admission to Roberson.  Roberson is offering HALF-OFF general admission Friday through Sunday.  In addition to Hidy Ochiai, Roberson is also hosting its Two Rivers Fine Arts and Crafts Festival this weekend. 

“The variety of event offerings this weekend shows our vision at work,” says Jason Fiume, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Roberson.  “It’s our goal to be an energetic hub of community activity and this weekend featuring Hidy Ochiai and our Fine Arts and Crafts Festival is a perfect example of that.”
