Most recognised for her Old Master Techniques\, she teaches in a variety of mediums including  oil\, watercolor\, pastel and drawing. DESCRIPTION:Community American Sign Language Classes \nWould you like to learn to communicate with American Sign Language (ASL)? ASL is quickly becoming one of the most widely used languages in the United States. This 6-week class will introduce you to the basics of ASL\, and the world of Deaf Culture. Our instructor\, Katherine Egitto\, who is Deaf\, teaches ASL and Deaf culture to help you understand the communication needs of the Deaf community. A “no-voice” teaching method is used to give you the best learning experience. You will learn through classroom instruction and role-play. \nClass runs every Saturday through March 25. \nAbout Katie Egitto \nKatherine (Katie) has grown up as the only Deaf child in the family. Katie was born and raised in Binghamton. Her mother had the flu when she was pregnant with Katie\, which resulted in becoming profoundly deaf. She graduated with her Master’s in Social Work at Binghamton University and does her work in research\, consulting\, and teaching about the Deaf culture and sign language. She is hoping to pursue certification in teaching. \nKatie is currently an ASL instructor at Binghamton University in their TRIO\, Upward Bound program.
