Intro to Visual Storytelling with Zines

April 17, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Free – $5

You don’t need anything fancy to start telling your story. All you need is a pen, pencil, and one piece of paper.

In this art workshop, we’ll be using zines as a way for us to explore comics and visual storytelling.

Cost: Pay What You Can
Register >

Where: Zoom

Recommended for adults and young adults/teens.

Drawing experience is not necessary–meaningful stories can be told with expressive stick figures and lettering!

Zines are a great way to get started creating stories and experimenting with comics. They allow us to use budget limitations to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

In this workshop, we’ll dig into the basic format of a zine, what a zine is, and use a series of writing prompts to help us plan a short story.

We will work with a period of writing, folding our own zines, sketching out, then drawing, and finally solidifying our story in 6 panels.

Materials needed to participate:
Paper
Scissors
Pen and pencil
